Awash Bank Held Discussion with the President of Wollega University to Facilitate Future Cooperation.

At the beginning of the discussion, the bank reminded that it has been presenting proposals aimed at providing various services that could benefit the institution and its employees. Mr. Abdanna Salbanee, Western Region Director of Awash Bank, stated that the university could make use of different digital technologies that speed up financial payments and money transfers.

The President of Wollega University, Dr. Tesfaye Lemma, on his part, recalled that following the restructuring of higher education institutions, Wollega University has become an Applied Science University. He explained that, in order to fulfil its mission of providing practice-oriented education, the university has been signing collaborative agreements with various factories and industries. Among these, he noted that banks are one of their major focus areas.

He also stated that providing practical training is essential for producing competent finance professionals and emphasized that the signed cooperation agreements should be implemented effectively. Regarding services that could benefit university employees, he added that experiences from other institutions would also be studied further.

In addition to the discussion held with the President, the bank donated books explaining the history and establishment of the bank. Mr. Abdanna explained that the books could serve as reference and research materials on the beginnings and operations of private banking, as well as on regulations and directives related to money transfer and financial institutions.

Dr. Tesfaye Lemma expressed his appreciation for the support and stated his hope that the books would serve as valuable reference materials for the university’s students.
