The Wollega University, Institute of Technology (IoT) conducted a formal handover meeting aimed at ensuring a smooth and effective leadership transition within the institution. The event brought together university officials, academic leaders, staff members, and newly appointed office holders to mark the transition process and discuss institutional priorities moving forward.
At the beginning of the session, the search and selection committee presented a brief overview of the overall staff selection process. The committee highlighted the transparency and merit-based principles applied throughout the process and shared the successful accomplishments achieved during the selection procedure. The presentation emphasized the university’s commitment to strengthening institutional leadership through qualified and competent appointments. Following the committee’s presentation, special assistant to A Academic Vice President, Dr Eyerusam Tadesse formally introduced and congratulated the newly appointed deputy director, faculty dean, and two school deans.
During the handover session, the outgoing office holders officially transferred their responsibilities, documents and duties to the newly appointed leaders. The transition process was carried out in a professional and cooperative manner to ensure continuity in institutional operations and to facilitate a seamless assumption of responsibilities by the incoming leadership team.
As part of the program, the IoT Scientific Director, Dr. Endalkachew Mosisa, delivered a presentation entitled “#Priority_Activities_for_the_Remaining_2018_Academic_Calendar_and_Future_Plan.” In his presentation, Dr Endalkachew outlined the major activities and strategic priorities that require immediate attention during the remaining academic period. He particularly emphasized the importance of strengthening the ongoing teaching-learning process, conducting comprehensive curriculum reviews, and preparing students effectively for upcoming exit examinations.
Furthermore, Dr. Endalkachew Mosisa highlighted both short-term and long-term strategic plans designed to improve academic quality, institutional performance, research engagement, and overall educational effectiveness within the Institute of Technology_IoT. He encouraged all academic leaders and staff members to work collaboratively and remain committed to achieving the institution’s strategic goals.
Dr. Tesfaye Lemma, President of Wollega University, commenced his remarks by expressing his appreciation for the merit-based staff selection process implemented in the Institute and for the ongoing reform initiatives being undertaken across the university. He noted that these efforts reflect the institution’s strong commitment to promoting transparency and institutional excellence.
In his address, Dr. Tesfaye Lemma has also emphasized the reform process within the IoT should not be viewed merely as a change in organizational structures or institutional nomenclature. Rather, he underscored that meaningful reform requires a transformation in working culture, professional attitudes, and institutional mindset.
Furthermore, he urged all staff members to work collaboratively and to actively contribute to the advancement of the IoT and the university as a whole by effectively utilizing and strengthening the ongoing reform initiatives. He highlighted the importance of collective effort, mutual support, and shared vision in achieving sustainable institutional development.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Tesfaye Lemma stressed that teamwork and collaboration are fundamental to establishing a strong and competitive Institute of Technology at Wollega University. He also encouraged staff members to serve as role models through their professionalism, commitment, cooperation, and dedication to the overall growth and development of the institution.
